Community Hub

Our community Hub is designed to support the excellent work that is carried out by so many people to help our local community.

We do not think it is enough to just provide a name address and telephone number. We feel it is important to provide an introducion to each charity and the work that they do. We will support all charities that are helping the Havant community by promoting their events and projects.

Hayling Paris Cycle Ride

The Paris to Hayling Charity Cycle Ride started in 1986, when Peter McQuade, now President of the Ride, cycled alone from Paris to Hayling raising money for cot death research, following the death of the baby daughter of two close friends. Like many subsequent riders he had no great cycling experience. However, as the trip turned out to be easier than he had anticipated he persuaded another 17 cyclists to join him the following year.

The ride is now in it's 33rd year and the 2018 ride will leave Portsmouth on Sunday 1st July 2018 travelling to Versailles arriving back in Hayling Island on Saturday 7th.

To date the ride has raised over £1.5 million pounds for charity with 100% of the monies raised going to charity. over 2000 riders have taken part over the years with many participants coming from all over the country. This is widely regarded as one of the most successful charity events run on the south coast.

Haylings Best

Haylings Best is an award winning group that was initially formed via the Market Towns Initiative to bring a new lease of life to our community, so that we can provide convenient access to the services that townspeople and surrounding communities depend on. Our aim is to promote Hayling Island as a vibrant, viable and independent community.

Our members projects include: Hayling Scarecrows, Playing on the Plaza. the Copp Memorial, Cycle Hayling, Hayling Billy 50 and Discover Hayling. We are continuing to develop programmes that take our community forward and also provide support to projects that share our aims to benefit the Hayling Island community.

hayling Island Businessmans Club

The club was formed in 1964 by a group of local businessmen as a way of returning something worthwhile to the community, which supported their various businesses. It was thought best to support the less privileged in our society by means of various fund raising events. This is still the basic philosophy and there are now two key fundraising events each year. The annual BBQ at the Northney Farm and the Cabaret night currently held at Mill Rythe.

Currently most of our fund raising goes to financing the a mini-bus that we provide for the use of local charities. We are however able to support a number of local groups with donations from time to time and recent donations include: local scouts, Hayling United, and Hayling young at heart.

Hayling Lions

The Hayling Island Lions club was formed in 1997 and is part of Lions Clubs International the world's largest and premier International Voluntary Service Organisation.

Since its formation the Hayling Lions have created a reputation for help and assistance widely respected by our community. We currently have 29 members drawn from all walks of life and experience and we meet every second and fourth Thursday in the month at 7.30 p.m. at the Langstone Hotel, Northney Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0NQ.

Locally we work to support the Hayling Island community through funds raised at our charity shop and various fundraising activities that are held throughout the year.

Full details of our work in the Hayling Island Community ids detailed on our web site.
